Xevious games have been ported to many platforms and compiled into several Namco compilations. The game received multiple sequels, spin-offs, and re-imaginings, the latest being Xevious Resurrection from 2009. It was created by Masanobu Endo, who is also known as the creator of The Tower of Druaga. The eponymous first entry was released for arcades in January 1983 in Japan and a month later in North America by Atari. Xevious is a shoot 'em up video game franchise published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, formerly Namco.
